The Vaccine Certificate Verifier (VCV) app is a Malaysian government app that allows users to verify COVID-19 vaccination certificates issued by the Malaysian government and other countries recognized by Malaysia. It can also verify certificates for COVID test outcomes and recovery from certain countries. Users can scan QR codes displayed on the MySejahtera app, electronic versions of the certificate in PDF form, or printed paper versions of the certificate. The app verifies certificates using trusted servers or digital signatures issued by trusted entities. It updates periodically to maintain a list of trusted servers and public keys. The app displays the result of the verification and shows identity and vaccination information if the certificate is valid. It does not retain certificate information for privacy protection. The app can currently verify certificates from Malaysia, all countries in the European Union Digital COVID Certificate consortium, Brunei, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Syria, and Australia.
